Team and Athlete Information

Welcome to the IRF 2019 World Rafting Championships Powered by Experience Co. Over 30+ years of rafting is about to hit the Australian soil and we are ready to see who is going to Tame the Tully. The World Rafting Championships is a coming together of rafters from all over the world participating and competing in the toughest white water rapids.

The pinnacle event follows the much anticipated Pre Worlds 2018. The Rafting event is taking place in the heart of the Cassowary Coast Region, the Tully River.

Australia is looking forward to hosting such a thrilling world event and is sure to make it a memorable one. The peak event is a true celebration of the sport with national federations coming from around the globe. The event will feature international athletes competing in Open, Masters, U23 and U19 divisions through a combination of river rapids R6 ranging from Sprints, H2H, Slalom and Down River in one of the most iconic settings in Australia.

You will be able to find the most important information through this website which will assist you in planning, attending and being part of the event. Key contact information for related matters that will affect you are also within so please take your time to read it in full.

Team Registration

  • Registering your team is important to be part of this incredible event and we wouldn’t want you to miss out.

Registration includes the following for a rafting team of 7 members:

  • Raft
  • 7 Bibs
  • Food (Lunch and Dinner) for 8 days
  • Transport from Cairns Airport to Athletes Village (on nominated day)
  • Transport from Athletes Village to the River (on competition days)
  • Transport from Athletes Village to Cairns Airport (on nominated day)

Important Team Entry Information:

  • 15th February 2019 – Team Entry closes IF teams require an invoice to be able to pay the entry fee. (Registration form WITH invoice details must be in by this date.)
  • 1st March 2019 – Team Entry closes for all teams NOT requiring an invoice to pay.  
  • 8th March 2019ALL Entry payment MUST be paid by this date. 
  • After the 8th March – Late Entries may be accepted on a case by case basis with addition of a Late Fee.
  • Teams will be sent a ‘receipt of payment’ when entry is received by ARF.

TEAM & ATHLETE TRANSPORT

Teams and Athletes can now book their transport through the official Team Transport Booking Portal. 

Teams have the option to book their transport on the 10th, 11th and 12th of May to get from Cairns to Tully.
Bus shuttles will be running at 10am and 3pm.
 
Pick up includes the following:
– Cairns Airport
– YAL Hostel
– Reef Fleet Terminal which is in Cairns city.

Support Crew

  • We welcome support crews such as coaches and managers, however they are an additional cost. Included in their fee is the following:

    • Food (Lunch and Dinner) for 8 days
    • Transport from Cairns Airport to Athletes Village (on nominated day)
    • Transport from Athletes Village to the River (on competition days)
    • Transport from Athletes Village to Cairns Airport (on nominated day)

Athletes Village

  • Athletes will have the opportunity to book their accommodation in the incredible Athletes Village which will be located in the heart of the Tully. This will be an amazing luxury glamping set up surrounded with endless entertainment. The camping grounds is on a powered site with toilets and showers.

    The glamping accommodation is an additional cost.

    Each tent can sleep up to 4 athletes, support crew are also welcome to purchase and book their accommodation.

  • Glamping fee includes the following:

      Set up and pack up of tent,  transport of tent, blow up bed, bedding and fairy lights.
